As the first stop of China-Myanmar natural gas import pipeline in China section, Yunnan’s natural gas consumption was very low in the past due to the undeveloped local economy and limited natural gas resources. Since the operation of the import pipeline, the Yunnan provincial government had issued several promotion plans to push the development of clean energy. Its capital city Kunming entered full gas switch and achieved 0.73 bcm consumption this year, taking up over 65% of the total. In the downstream consumption, the industrial gas took up 59%, the civil use took up 41%, and no other downstream established yet. With this emerging growth, Yunnan’s proportion of China-Myanmar Line imports has risen from 3% to 28% in three years.
