According to the official announcement, Beijing Enterprise Group (BEG)’s wholly-owned subsidiary Beijing Gas Group (BGG) has received the approval regarding the 5 Mtpa BGG Tianjin LNG Terminal located in North China, Tianjin Municipality’s Nangang Port.
The whole project was designed in three phases with ten 200,000 cbm tanks, a 266,000 cbm berth, matched regasification facility and truck loading facility, and an extra two 200,000 cbm tank reserved land. The total designed capacity for the first phase was 5 Mtpa with the berth and four tanks by 2022, the second phase was with 4 tanks by 2023 and the third phase was with 2 tanks by 2024. The terminal was also matched with a 229 kilometer pipeline to connect Beijing’s South Hub to regas and deliver 4.5 bcm natural gas per annum. The pipeline was set to run with the first phase of the terminal.
The investment of the whole project was 20.13 billion RMB, and Beijing Municipal Government announced to provide 30% of the investment to further secure China’s capital city’s gas supply and peak-shaving capacity. Worth to note that BGG has signed a memorandum of understanding on LNG containment tech with GTT, the French liquefied natural gas containment system specialist, on November 6, 2019, thus, the construction of the terminal is expected to begin very soon.
