Guanghui Energy hosted a test run ceremony on June 2 for the fourth LNG storage tank at its East China’s Qidong LNG Receiving Terminal. The new 160,000 cbm tank will strongly enhance the receiving and turnaround capacity of the terminal to surpass 2 Mtpa as reported, and the receiving rate of the terminal is expected to rise from the current 1-2 cargoes per month to 3-4.
Guanghui Qidong Terminal had two 50,000 cbm tanks for the first phase and one 160,000 cbm tank for the second phase. With the third phase’s new 160,000 cbm tank, the total storage capacity rose to 420,000 cbm. However, restricted by the unfinished regasification and output pipeline, the terminal’s sales depend on the truck loading only. Although the truck loading volume of the terminal hiked above 300 trucks per day recently, stimulated by the low price of imported cargoes, the nameplate 3 Mtpa receiving capacity is still not reachable.
According to the company, the 160-kilometer 4 bcm annual capacity Qi-Tong pipeline will be accomplished in 2020, and by the commissioning of the pipeline connecting to surrounding gas power plants and Nantong city gas grid, Qidong Terminal will reach the actual 3 Mtpa receiving capacity. Moreover, the terminal put its fifth tank with 200,000 cbm storage capacity into field construction from this May, and the company hopes to put it into operation by 2021.
