September Propylene Price to Inch up
Lead: The supply and demand in the propylene market were controllable in August, and the number of downstream units experiencing the maintenance increased. The influence of new capacity, extreme weather and the public health event on the propylene market was limited. Therefore, the propylene market price continued to be range-bound, and the mainstream price edged down. In September, the mainstream price of propylene will change limitedly with both bullish and bearish outlook in the market. However, the propylene market price may inch up periodically with fewer imported resources, maintenance of large propylene units and good demand.
In northern China, the overall supply and demand were largely stable in August, and the number of downstream units taking turnarounds increased. Therefore, the mainstream price of propylene dropped slightly. As of August 24, the mainstream market price of propylene in Shandong was RMB 7,800-7,800/mt, down RMB 25/mt or 0.32% from the end of July.
