
Cabot's Acquisition of Chinese Plant Expands Capacity by 50kt/a
Recently, Cabot announced the latest acquisition. It had acquired NSCC Carbon (Jiangsu), a wholly-owned subsidiary based in Pizhou, Jiangsu Province, from Nippon Steel Carbon, and the annual carbon black capacity of Cabot will be expanded by another 50kt/a.
According to the public information, NSCC Carbon (Jiangsu) was established in June 2013 with a registered capital of RMB 90 million, planned total investment of RMB 260 million, and a total floor area of 62,500 square meters. After completion, it can produce 50kt of high-end carbon black per year, with an annual operating income of RMB 300 to 400 million.
Cabot pointed out that the NSCC Carbon (Jiangsu) plant will supply 50kt of high-performance carbon black to downstream users every year. Cabot has been actively expanding the production capacity and eliminating production bottleneck through expansion, in order to increase the supply capacity of the company's global carbon black network and broaden the capabilities to serve customers in China.
