MTBE Unit at PetroChina Daqing Petrochemical to Weigh down Northeast China LPG Prices

Accordingto PetroChina Daqing Petrochemical, the newly added MTBE unit with the capacityof 90kt/a has been successfully put into operation, and the LPG market inNortheast China may change to some extent.

Asseen from the chart, there was only PetroChina Daqing Petrochemical supplyingC4R1 to the market in Northeast China, and the supply volume was relatively high. But PetroChina Daqing Petrochemical will stop supplying C4R1 to themarket, after the MTBE unit is put into operation. Moreover, PetroChina DaqingPetrochemical may purchase C4R1 resources from the market. Therefore, thesupply and demand patterns of C4R1 in Northeast China will change.

Accordingto SCI’s statistics, the C4R2 prices in Northeast China were higher than thosein other three regions. After the MTBE unit is put into operation, PetroChinaDaqing Petrochemical may supply plenty of C4R2 resources to the market. SCIreckons that the C4R2 prices in Northeast China may decline to some extent.Besides, SCI estimates that the supply and demand patterns of C4R2 will change,after the alkylation unit at PetroChina Daqing Petrochemical is put intooperation.
