ITRC Agrees to Limit NR Export from April
The ITRC member countries met in Bangkok, Thailand, from March 4 to 5, 2019 to finalize the implementation details of Agreed Export Tonnage Scheme (AETS).
The governments of Thailand, Indonesia and Malaysia agreed at this meeting to implement the four-month AETS from April 1, 2019. According to the 6th AETS implementation plan, the three countries agreed to cut exports of NR by 240kt. During the implementation of AETS, the supervision will be mainly carried out by domestic regulatory agencies. In addition, a committee will be established to supervise and ensure the implementation of the 6th AETS plan.
It is heard that Malaysia and Indonesia will restrict NR exports from April 1 to July 31, and the amount of restricted exports will be 16kt and 98kt respectively. Thailand's export restriction is from May 20 to September, limiting 126kt of NR exports.
The meeting also proposed to promote rubber demand, continue to increase rubber road projects, and increase NR consumption in the International Committee of the Red Cross member countries. Thailand, Indonesia and Malaysia believe that this cooperation would be conducive to the rubber industry and the improvement of rubber prices.
