【SCI View】Jul Biodiesel Import & Export Data Analysis

In July 2019, China’s import volume of biodiesel kept surging. According to SCI’s statistics, in July 2019, China’s import volume of biodiesel was 199.42kt, up 27.77% from June and down 20.18% from last year. Therein, Indonesia ranked in first place among the origins of the biodiesel imports, and China’s import volume from Indonesia was 132.13kt, accounting for 66.26% of the total import volume. Malaysia ranked second, and China’s import volume from Malaysia was 62.32kt, accounting for 31.75% of the total import volume.

In July, among the destinations of the imported biodiesel, Guangdong ranked the first place, and its import volume of biodiesel was 115.61kt, up 45.14kt from June and accounting for 57.97% of the total import volume. Zhejiang ranked the second place, and its import volume of biodiesel was 46.62kt, up 31.86% from June and accounting for 23.38% of the total import volume.

In terms of the exports of biodiesel, in July 2019, China’s total export volume of biodiesel was 72.34kt, up 83.98% from June and up 44.77% from last year. Therein, Netherland tookthe first place among the destinations of exported biodiesel, and China’s biodiesel export volume to it was 29.86kt, accounting for 41.28% of the total export volume. Spain ranked second, and China’s biodiesel export volume to it accounted for 31.14% of the total export volume. Malaysia ranked third, and China’s biodiesel export volume to it accounted for 21.98% of the total export volume.

In July, among the origins of the exported biodiesel, Jiangsu ranked the first place, and its export volume of biodiesel was 20.31kt, up 6.21kt from June and accounting for 28.08% of the total export volume. Fujian ranked the second place, and its export volume of biodiesel was 15.5kt, down 0.05kt from June.

In the future, the crude oil output in the U.S. will stay at a high level, and the Sino-U.S. trading tensions make many participants adopt bearish attitudes towardthe global economic development. Therefore, the international crude oil prices are likely to underperform. In China, the refined oil market peak season starts from September to October, and the end demand for diesel performs well. However, China’s diesel market still suffers from oversupply. In terms of biodiesel, China’s current import volume of biodiesel has reached a high level, and the import volume of biodiesel in September may decline slightly. If the prices of international crude oil slumped, China’s export volume of biodiesel will also decline in September.
