China PVC Powder Supply Likely to Rise in Dec
PVC powder unit maintenance plans decrease gradually. In previous years, Q4 usually saw low output loss due to maintenance. However, in 2023, PVC powder output loss due to maintenance in October and November was relatively high. As most PVC producers have finished maintenance plans this year, SCI reckons that the output loss in December will possibly shrink notably, and the PVC powder industrial operating rate may move up. However, there are long-term shutdown units. It is expected that output loss due to maintenance in December may be around 200kt, and the industrial operating rate is likely to be 78% or so.
December usually sees that the real estate operating rate is in the slack season. Affected by cold weather, China’s domestic PVC rigid demand may remain weak. In November, foreign buyers showed tepid interest in purchasing, SCI reckons that the PVC powder export orders to be delivered in December will possibly be limited. On the whole, the PVC powder supply may increase, while the demand may remain soft. PVC powder fundamentals will likely weaken in December.
