12.48 Million mt/a Asian PX Capacity to See Turnarounds in 2020
In 2020, about 12.475 million mt/a PX capacity is predicted to experience turnarounds in Asia, which will be intensive in Q2. The newly added capacity will likely reach 5.8 million mt. Thereinto, Zhejiang Petrochemical will likely put its 4 million mt/a capacity into operation. With PX newly added capacity going into operation, PX profits will contract sharply, Therefore, PX operating loads will decline in 2020. More and more PX units will experience turnarounds, undergo shutdown or see declines in operating loads. Nonetheless, China’s supply deficit will still exist, given unstable operation at newly added units and growing demand from the PTA sector.
