China PVC Paste Import Volume Rose in April
Preface: China’s PVC paste import volume saw an M-O-M increase in April, while export volume decreased notably. SCI reckons that the import volume may remain stable, while the export volume may fall in May.
China’s PVC paste import volume was 9,413.14mt, up 17.04% M-O-M and 65.07% Y-O-Y. The average import price was $1,319.35/mt, up 6.58% M-O-M. The total import volume from January to April was 33,679.81mt, up 77.73% Y-O-Y. Though demand from glove product enterprises declined, imported resources from Germany, Japan and South Korea rose.
In April, the major origins were Germany, Taiwan of China and Thailand, with a total import volume of 6,646.45mt, accounting for 70.61% of the total imports. The import volume from Germany was 2,737.75mt, up 169.48% M-O-M, accounting for 29.08% of the total imports.
In April, PVC paste export volume was 7,950.39mt, down 19.01% M-O-M and 47.81% Y-O-Y. The average export price was $1,052.6/mt, down 6.58% M-O-M. The total export volume from January to April 2024 was 40,332.35mt, down 21.45% Y-O-Y. In April, PVC paste export volume saw a notable Y-O-Y decrease.
In April, the top three PVC paste destinations were Russia, India and Pakistan with a total export volume of 5,714.12mt, accounting for 71.87% of exports. The export volume to Germany was 3,491mt, down 35.97% M-O-M. The export volume to India was 1,570.12mt, up 3.96% M-O-M.
China’s PVC paste import volume saw an M-O-M increase in April, while export volume decreased notably. SCI reckons the import volume will possibly remain high due to fairish demand from China’s domestic glove product enterprises.
On April 26, 2024, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry of India issued an announcement to make a preliminary anti-dumping ruling on PVC paste resins originating in or imported from the Chinese mainland, South Korea, Malaysia, Norway, Thailand and Taiwan of China, and recommended imposing provisional anti-dumping duties on the products involved in the above countries and regions. Affected by that, China’s PVC paste exports may decrease in May.
