Guangdong Gov. to Push LNG Bunker with CSSC and CNOOC

Guangdong Provincial Government inked a cooperation framework agreement with China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC) and China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) on May 29 to jointly promote the inland LNG-fuelled vessels in Guangdong Province.

The cooperation planned to upgrade 1,500 inland vessels to LNG fuel and build 19 LNG vessel filling stations, aiming to replace 390,000 mt of bunker oil with 400,000 mt of bunker LNG, so as to reduce Guangdong’s vessel nitrogen oxides and particulate emission by 12.6% and 19.5% in 5 years. CSSC is nominated with the ship upgrade, and CNOOC will take in charge of filling station construction.
