Huagang Gas to Build First Film LNG Storage Tank in China
August 11, 2020, Huagang Gas Group, CNPC’s wholly-owned natural gas sales company, inked the construction agreement of Huanggang Hebei Hejian LNG Peak-Shaving Storage Station. The EPC China Petroleum Engineering and Construction also signed construction sub-contracts with CSSC Hudong-Zhonghua and the licensing contract with France’s tech company GTT.
Huagang Gas announced the project had broken the ground in late September, and using GTT’s Mark III film type LNG storage technology, the new 290,000 cubic meter tank is expected to be completed by September 2021 and provide LNG peak-shaving capacity to surrounding areas such as Renqiu City, Hejian City, Suning County and Xianxian County by Huagang’s city gas grid in those areas and the convenient truck loading delivery system covering 100 kilometers radius with instant delivery in one day.
At the meantime, as China’s first utilization of film type LNG storage tank, the project will bring the new tech into the sector with at least a 25% shorter construction period, better insulativity and gas-tightness with isolated structural modules, and easier maintenance than the conventional 9% Ni steel LNG storage tank.
