China 95% Ethanol Prices Mixed
From January, China’s 95% ethanol prices were mixed. On the one hand, some plants with no shutdown plan during the Spring Festival holiday promoted sales by cutting prices. On the other hand, the 95% ethanol prices in some regions also showed an uptrend affected by transport and cost. In Henan, ethanol plants maintained sales before the Spring Festival holiday, so the 95% ethanol prices showed rapid ups and downs. In Northeast China, the market prices also trended up and down due to the transport. In northern Jiangsu, the market prices fluctuated slowly affected by the price trends in Northeast China and Henan.
In Henan, from last weekend to now, the 95% ethanol prices dropped by RMB 150/mt to RMB 7,070-7,100/mt (tax included). Currently, the profit from producing 95% ethanol is close to the cost line. Calculated at the corn price of RMB 2,880/mt and the DDGS price of RMB 2,650/mt, the gross profit at Henan ethanol plants is RMB -41/mt. The downtrend is mainly affected by the sales before the Spring Festival holiday. It is expected that ethanol producers in Henan may lower output, so the 95% ethanol prices will decline slightly.
