Mar China Butadiene Output to Rally
By the end of February, there are 36 butadiene producers in China, with the total capacity of 4,886kt/a. The investigated ones include the total capacity of 930kt/a, 405kt/a, 2,192kt/a, 660kt/a, 150kt/a, 369kt/a and 180kt/a, respectively in 7 producers in Northeast China, 3 producers in North China, 16 producers in East China, 4 producers in South China, 1 producer in Southwest China, 3 producers in Northwest China and 2 producers in Central China.
Remarks: The butadiene capacity at North Huajin Chemical Industries is revised to 120kt/a; the butadiene capacity at PetroChina Sichuan Petrochemical is revised to 150kt/a; the butadiene capacity at Sinopec & SK (Wuhan) Petrochemical is revised to 130kt/a.
In February, the operating rate of China’s butadiene industry edged down to 77.9% roughly. According to SCI, the monthly output of butadiene was around 316kt. Within this month, the butadiene unit at Wintter Chemical was shut. The 80kt/a butadiene unit via butene ODH technology and the 60kt/a butadiene unit via C4 extraction technology at Shandong Yuhuang Chemical were both shut. Nanjing Chengzhi Yongqing Energy Technology continued to shut its 100kt/a butadiene unit via butene ODH technology. A 60kt/a butadiene unit at Sinopec Yangzi Petrochemical was shut on February 21. The butadiene units at ChemChina Puyang Bluestar New Material and Jiutai Energy Inner Mongolia ran normally. The operating rate of other butadiene units changed slightly. Overall, in February, the butadiene supply continued to inch down from January.
