Typhoon Boosted Rises in Benzene Price (Sep 13)
East China market: Benzene prices in East China market jumped. Affected by the typhoon, market players worried that the delayed arrival of shipments would affect the goods delivery at the end of the month. Therefore, contract dealers actively conducted procurement, which pushed up prices of both spot cargo and far-month cargoes. The dealing price of spot benzene in East China once surged to RMB 8,720/mt. In the afternoon, state-owned refineries raised their listing price by RMB 200/mt to RMB 8,200/mt, which failed to meet the market expectation, thus the market atmosphere cooled slightly.
Shandong market: Benzene dealing prices in Shandong Province also posted rises, mainly boosted by the hot purchase from East China contract dealers. Benzene prices in Shandong market once increased to a high of RMB 8,500-8,550/mt.
USD market: Asian benzene market climbed up, and it was hard to find low-price goods in the market.
