Dec 2024 China MTBE Export Saw MOM Rise of 41%
According to GACC’s data, there was no MTBE import in December 2024, and China’s MTBE export volume totaled 246kt, up 41.04% MOM and up 1.44% YOY.
In December 2024, China’s MTBE import volume was zero, as the international MTBE prices remained relatively high. China’s MTBE import arbitrage remained negative for a long time, so no importer purchased MTBE from the international market. From January to December 2024, China’s MTBE export volume totaled 2,461.1kt, up 32.35% YOY.
As for export trade partners, China’s mainly exported MTBE to Singapore, and the export volume of 180.8kt in December, taking up 73.52% of the total. Meanwhile, the volume of MTBE exported to the U.A.E. was 50kt, occupying 20.31%. Besides, China exported 9.9kt of MTBE resources to Malaysia, taking up 4.03% of the total.
In terms of the registration place, the MTBE export volume of Jiangsu was 93.7kt, taking up 38.10% of the total. Meanwhile, the MTBE export volume of Shandong and Heilongjiang was 50.3kt and 29.3kt, taking up 20.46% and 11.91% of the total respectively. Besides, the MTBE export volume of Guangdong took the fourth place, with the total export volume of 27.3kt and occupying 11.11%.
As for the MTBE export trade mode, China mainly exported MTBE via general trade in December 2024, with the export volume of 221.7kt and taking up 90.13% of the total.
