2025-2029 Global PP Trade Flow Forecast
Global PP trade flows will become more diversified from 2025 to 2029. Trade will continue to be concentrated between neighboring regions. Northeast Asia, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East will have close trade ties. South America and North America will trade with each other, and Europe will mainly rely on PP supplies from North America and the Middle East. From the perspective of China’s PP import and export, future PP imports will primarily come from the Asia-Pacific region.
With the continuous introduction of newly-built capacity, China’s domestic PP market will rely less on imports, potentially narrowing the scope of its import partners. Moreover, China’s PP exports are expected to become even more attractive, driving the growth of the entire PP industry.
In terms of future export flows, Southeast Asia will remain China’s primary export destination. However, with more players entering the Southeast Asian market, it is expected to become saturated, lowering profit margins. South Asia has seen increased demand in recent years due to order transfers, but trade protection policies are likely to be gradually introduced, which may hinder future exports there. With growing arbitrage opportunities and recovering demand in South America, China’s exports to the region have enhanced significantly. China has initially established relatively stable trade relations with the region. However, it is still necessary to pay attention to the adjustment of PP import tariffs by Brazil, the main export trade partner, as this may impact future Chinese exports to the region. Africa also has a large demand for PP, and with limited capacity, it remains a net importer and a potential long-term growth market.
With increasing supply pressure in upstream markets, China may gradually transform into a net exporter of PP in the coming years. This shift reflects not only China’s rising position in the global PP supply chain but also its enhanced international competitiveness. In the future, low-price competition will remain a prominent feature of the market, continuing to influence global import and export trade.
