Inner Mongolia 100kt/a Green Methanol Unit Put on Record
On February 9, 2023, the green methanol synthesis unit of the 100,000 tons/year “liquid sunshine” -- carbon dioxide and green hydrogen to methanol technology demonstration project at ChinaCoal Ordos Energy and Chemical was put on record.
Located in Ordos, Inner Mongolia, the project is the world’s first large-scale industrialization demonstration project of liquid sunshine technology launched by China National Coal Group and Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics of Chinese Academy of Sciences.
The project mainly includes three parts: new energy wind & photovoltaic power generation, water-electrolytic hydrogen making and storage (including electrochemical energy storage) and green methanol synthesis.
The water-electrolytic hydrogen making capacity is 21,000 tons/year; the total hydrogen production capacity is 46,200Nm3/h; the hydrogen storage scale is 220,000 Nm3; the electrochemical energy storage capacity is 2.5MW/5MWh.
The project also includes matched downstream units -- 150,000 tons/year of carbon dioxide refining unit and 100,000 tons/year of green methanol synthesis unit as well as supporting public works.
The project is scheduled to start construction from June 2023, with a total investment of 614,490,000 RMB.
