Jul 2025 China MTBE Export Saw MOM Rise of 51.59%
According to GACC’s data, there was no MTBE import in July 2025, and China’s MTBE export volume totaled 456.5kt, up 51.59% MOM and up 213.31% YOY.
In July 2025, China’s MTBE import volume was zero, as the international MTBE prices remained relatively high. China’s MTBE import arbitrage remained negative for a long time, so no importer purchased MTBE from the international market. From January to July 2025, China’s MTBE export volume totaled 2,200.7kt, up 33.01% YOY.
As for export trade partners, China’s mainly exported MTBE to Singapore, and the export volume was 150.5kt in July, taking up 32.98% of the total. Meanwhile, the volume of MTBE exported to Malaysia was 72.9kt, occupying 15.97%. Besides, China exported 38.3kt of MTBE resources to Chile, taking up 8.38% of the total.
In terms of the registration place, the MTBE export volume of Shandong was 235.6kt, taking up 51.60% of the total. Meanwhile, the MTBE export volume of Jiangsu and Fujian was 81kt and 39.9kt, taking up 17.75% and 8.74% of the total respectively. Besides, the MTBE export volume of Guangdong took the fourth place, with the total export volume of 35.8kt and occupying 7.84%.
As for the MTBE export trade mode, China mainly exported MTBE via general trade in July 2025, with the export volume of 436.4kt and taking up 95.61% of the total.
