Dubai: Eid Al Adha is synonymous with meat dishes like kebabs and curries owing to the animal sacrifices made during the four-day festival, but there can be no Eid without sweets.
Savouring the rush, sweet shops and confectioneries, particularly of Arabic variety, are decking up for the festivities.
Among the popular sweets are baklava, kunafeh, barbousa and qatayef, but mamool is particularly popular among the Emiratis this eid, shopkeepers said.
“The rush usually begins a couple of days before Eid, the orders rise up to 200 per cent compared to normal days. Mamool a sweet made with dates, walnut and pistachio is a favourite among Emiratis and this season it has been the bestseller so far,” said Rami, manager of Al Samadi sweets at Muraqqabat street.
