迪拜：阿联酋胃肠病学和肝病学会（EGHS）周四推出了一个全国范围的测试活动，它与卫生部合作，旨在检测整个阿联酋的丙型肝炎。这项活动受到迪拜卫生局（DHA）、Alam Wa Amal与病人朋友委员会支持，在九月初初步启动，并受EGHS监控。

Dubai: The Emirates Gastroenterology and Hepatology Society (EGHS) on Thursday launched a country-wide testing campaign for combating Hepatitis C across the UAE in cooperation with the Ministry of Health. The campaign, which is supported by the Dubai Health Authority (DHA), Alam Wa Amal and Patients’ Friends Committee, had a soft launch in early September and is being monitored by the EGHS.
Hepatitis C virus (HCV) infections result in inflammation or damage to the liver. Most patients infected with the hepatitis C virus (HCV) show no symptoms. In fact, most people don’t know they have the hepatitis C infection until liver damage shows up, decades later, during routine medical tests. HCV is one of several hepatitis viruses and is generally considered to be among the most damaging. Cases with indications of the disease will be directed towards insurance and non-insurance laboratory referral and serology tests.
The challenge with HCV is in getting a correct diagnosis. According to a recent study, nearly 80 per cent of HCV patients live symptom-free for years without knowing they are infected. The report said that 130-150 million people globally have chronic Hepatitis C infection, with 350,000 to 500,000 people dying each year of the disease.
