WHO IS JUNCTION?

Junction is a non-profit hackathon and tech community. Our volunteer-led teams organize hackathons, speaker events, coding workshops and other tech events - around the year and around the world.

The event-filled year peaks annually with our flagship event Junction: Europe's leading hackathon, yearly gathering around 1500 hackers together for a weekend-long experience. A meeting place for developers, designers and other techies, teaming up and creating new tech projects in 48 hours. This year, we are taking the event on a whole new level with Junction 2021 Connected, a hackathon like no other, gathering people all over the world to simultaneously hack in both physical locations and online.

This year's challenges are bigger than ever, featuring huge names like Marimekko, CGI, and many more.

The hackathon is divided into challenges based on different industries and themes. You can choose to work on multiple challenges during the hackathon: and you can even combine them and submit your project to multiple ones!

We aim to get the challenges out as soon as possible. Remember that you do not need to choose your challenge when applying to the event so you can already apply and choose the challenge later when all the descriptions are out.

When and where will Junction 2021 take place?
Juncation 编程马拉松将于 11 月 19 日至 21 日举行，将在线举办，并在世界各地增加线下实体挑战中心。
The hackathon will take place November 19th to 21st and it will be hosted online, with an addition of physical hacking Hubs all around the world.

Mushroom Could Maker Space will be the Shanghai Hub.

Mushroomcloud Maker Space is the first Maker Space in Pudong, Shanghai. It's an open Maker Space, funded by Puruan Incubator for open space and by DFRobot for hardware and technical support. There're independent studios, public areas, supplement stores and storage rooms here. It's hereby for harware lovers, programmers, designers, DIYers and even tech-innovative teams developing new technologies.

Junction 团队将在申请期间选择最优秀的申请者。您最迟会在申请后的两周内收到是否被接受的通知。
The Junction team will accept the best applicants already during the application period. You'll be informed at the latest within a couple of weeks from your application whether you're accepted to the hackathon or not.

Does it cost to attend?

Nope! We got you covered, the event is free of charge for all participants.
我可以和团队一起申请吗？
Can I apply with a team?
您可以与团队或自己申请，但所有团队成员也必须申请并被接受。
You can apply with a team or by yourself, but all team members must apply and be accepted as well.
一个团队可以有多大？
What size can a team be?
1 到 5 人 - 我们建议团队中至少有 3 人。Junction 团队将在编程马拉松开始时组织配对，因此如果您在活动开始前没有团队，则无需担心。
1 to 5 people - we suggest having a minimum of 3 people in a team. The Junction team will organize matchmaking at the start of the hackathon, so no need to worry if you don't have a team before the event.

What kind of measurements are taken to
prevent coronavirus infections?
对于每个线下实体中心，Junction 遵循中心所在国家/地区的官员制定的准则。如果在某个位置不安全，线下实体中心将被取消，相应的参与者将从调换到另一个 Hub 或在线参与活动。
For each physical Hub, Junction follows the guidelines set by the officials of the country, where the Hub is organized. If it's not safe to organize a Hub in a location, the Hub will cancelled and the corresponding participants will get to participate the event from another Hub or online.
在中国，Junction 遵循中国政府的指导方针。这意味着，汇通将按照上海市人民政府的指示，对上海 Hub 进行布局。
In China, Junction follows the guidelines given by the Chinese government. This means that Junction will arrange the Shanghai Hub in accordance with the instructions given by Shanghai Municipal People's Government .

Here are the key measurements that Junction is going to take in Hubs:- people that feel sick, can't provide healthy code (Jiankang Ma), travel code (Xingcheng Ma) are not allowed to attend physically- possibility to wash and/or disinfect hands is always available- the facilities are cleaned with extra caution and frequency- team-specific hacking tables are placed with 1-2 m safety distance to other tables- queuing is minimized by distributing people to arrive and leave gradually- the unavoidable queuing is arranged in a way that the 1-2 m safety distances can be maintained

Junction is prepared to downsize all Hubs according to the epidemiological situation.
我可以获得 Junction 2021 的旅行补助金吗？
Can I get travel grants for Junction 2021?
没有。
No, unfortunately.
由于冠状病毒，Junction 不鼓励远距离飞行/旅行到其他地方，这就是我们不提供旅行补助或住宿的原因。
Junction doesn’t encourage flying/traveling far to other locations due to the corona virus, which is why we don't provide travel grants nor accommodation.
Junction 团队不断发布新地点并协商更多 Hub，所以如果此时您附近没有 Hub，请不要担心，因为我们稍后会与您联系！另外，请记住，您也可以完全在线参加活动。
The Junction team is constantly publishing new locations and negotiating about more Hub, so if there’s no Hub near to you at this point, don’t worry, because we will contact you about it later! Also, remember that you can participate the event totally online too.

Main prize for the hackathon winner team is 10,000€!

In addition to the main prize, the challenge partners give out challenge-specific prizes. Challenge prizes typically range from the company's products to cash.
