2025 Al and Agricultural Sustainable Development Seminar

As a major agricultural country, the Netherlands is renowned worldwide for its innovative agricultural technologies, intensive production models, and the well-known "golden triangle" collaboration model of government, industry, and academia. It has created a miracle of becoming the world's second-largest agricultural exporter on limited land. Wageningen University & Research (WUR), the worldwide number one in its field, has already over 100 years been at the forefront of agricultural science and technology innovation. Meanwhile, China is comprehensively advancing the strategies of rural revitalization and smart agriculture, accelerating the transformation of agriculture towards digitalization, intelligence, and sustainable development. China has demonstrated great potential in the in-depth integration of artificial intelligence (AI) and agriculture, and is actively preparing for the establishment of the Agricultural and Rural Promotion Group under the China Artificial Intelligence Industry Development Alliance (AIIA).

The World Agricultural Science and Technology Innovation Conference (WAFI for short), an international, regular, and high-profile platform for agricultural science and technology innovation, exchange, and cooperation, has been rated as one of the world's three major agricultural events. It is co-hosted by China Agricultural University, the People's Government of Pinggu District, Beijing, the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, and the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research.

In November 2025, as important guests and partners of the WAFI Conference, a Dutch business delegation led by Aalt Dijkhuizen, former President of Wageningen University & Research, and Zhu Ying, Founder and CEO of Agri-AI, will pay an in-depth visit to China. This visit is also one of the regular activities of the WAFI Conference. During this period, the WAFI Conference, in conjunction with the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology, will jointly organize the first International Forum on AI and Agricultural Sustainable Development & Preparatory Meeting for AIIA Agricultural and Rural Promotion Group. This event will build a high-end platform for in-depth exchanges between China and the Netherlands in the field of smart agriculture, summarize the practical experience of both sides in the integration of AI and sustainable agricultural development, jointly explore opportunities for knowledge exchange, cooperation, and collaborative innovation, and promote the application and implementation of AI technology in the agricultural sector.
