专利翻译与常规文件的翻译不同，它有其特殊的翻译格式和要求，今天小编给大家分享一些专利翻译时中文申请书翻译到英文时的一些常用表达翻译，有需要的可以收藏学习。
1) “本发明涉及一种......或者方法,”
英文翻译通常采用：The invention relates to ... or a method (process)
例如： The present invention relates to a compound of formula (I) , wherein R is substituted phenyl
(补充说明：“涉及”的英文译文也可以是：direct to, is related to, associate, concern 等)。
例如：The present utility model provides a remote control plane
错误：The utility model is provided with a funnel
正确：The utility model provides a funnel
例如：A non-contamination contained paper pulping technology and method of bioconversion/oxygenation under fully close condition is disclosed
4) 本发明属于： “属于”可用belong to、pertains to 等表示。
例如：The invention pertains to water pumps of the centrifugal impeller type.
5) 首句应按科技文献翻译的一概要求翻译，特别需要注意当涉及到方法或者系统时或者组合物时，可以采用以动词分词词组来组成的方法步骤进行翻译
举例：本发明提供一种提高客户端VCR 操作的响应速度的方法
The invention provides a method for improving responding speed for a VCR operation of a client.
6) 技术特征部分是否是开放式还是闭合式的，即正确使用comprise, consist of, include, essentially consist of, substantially comprise, contain, be composed of 等等
闭合式：consisting of A and B:只包括A 和B，无其他
开放式：comprising A and B:除了A 和B，还可能有C 和D 等
由……组成，用consist of；由A，B 等组成，用comprise
本发明包括A，B，……本发明还包括 C，D，也用comprise
主要由……组成 essentially consist of；主要包括 essentially consist of / mainly comprise
注意：机械结构中contain 比较少用; be comprised of 的形式比较少用；也可以用 be composed of

a plurality of As are used in the prior art而非a plurality of As is used in the prior art a plurality of As (upon first occurrence anywhere and at any occurrences within the claims) these As (but not within the claims)
1、译文中如果出现“复数条导线”这种情况，这里复数理解为多个，翻译为a plurality of
2、a plurality of 不可以修饰不可数名词，一般用于修饰“多个...部件”
9) 有...的优点；优点在于，有益效果是：The utility model has the advantages of / The utility model has the advantages that......”，of 后面接名词或名词性短语，that 后面接从句
错误：The invention has the advantages of that simple structure and stable performance.
正确：The invention has the advantages of simple structure and stable performance.
10) 表示“具有、装有、设置有”：be equipped / provided with，一般表主动
表示“安装于”：be arranged / positioned on (at, in ...) ，一般表被动，不要用set
错误：A lamp is equipped in the top end of the vase body
正确：A lamp is arranged in the top end of the vase body
11) thereby和thus 后都是加动名词doing/加句子
12) “其中”，多用wherein 表示，不是thereinto；且wherein 不是放在句首用
原文：螺栓的丝杆段旋装有螺帽，螺帽外侧为圆柱形，螺帽外侧上部开有轴向凹槽
译文：The screw section of the bolt is screwed and provided with a screw cap, wherein the external side of the screw cap takes the shape of a cylinder and the upper part of the external side of the screw cap is opened with an axial concave through
13) “使”，一般不用make、let 和enable
(1) 需要根据原文的意思选用合适的词语，如可以用lead to，result in，cause, facilitate，ensure 等代替
(2) 用被动语态陈述，“在...作用，...能够...”
14) “and”，并列成分只有两个时一般用and 连接，有多个时，如 a, b, c...y, z, 一般描述为a, b, c...y and z，除了最后两个用and 连接，前面都用逗号。尤其在有很多并列分句的句子中，更要注意分句和分句中并列成分间的关系，既要避免引起歧义，还要在形式上容易分别，容易读懂
15) there be句型，专利翻译中不提倡使用，可以用with 或者表示被动的句型来代替
16) 情态动词，例如 would，could，may，will 等，一般不和人称代词连用。译稿里不出现情态动词（can 除外）
17) 不出现 ’s 结构。如所有格形式： user’s, users', 或者是系动词的否定形式缩写，如：doesn’t
18) 不使用祈使句, 表达方法中的步骤时最好使用被动语态即用完整的句子表达
19) 专利文献中尽量不要出现指代不清的代词，如：it，its，them，whose 等
举例：自身能力信息，it's own capacity 可以灵活处理为 self-ability information
I．摘要末句需要用中心词代替The invention 的情况：本发明的有益效果是
译文：The method has the advantages of convenient and reliable operation.
说明：本发明不能译为The invention 要用中心词The method 代替
II．摘要末句the invention 不需要用中心词代替的情况
a、本发明的A ,翻译为：The A of the invention...
例如：原文：因此，本发明的数码视频录像机可以按照使用者的选择执行多种及时录像操作，提供使用者的方便性，而且可以在瞬间情况下及时进行应付
译文：Therefore, the digital video recorder of the invention can execute diversified timely recording operation according to selections of the user, provide the convenience for the user as well as deal with the operations in momentary situation
b、本发明同时公开了一种 A ，这里可以保留The invention，但这里用被动句好一些。
例如：原文：本发明同时公开了一种用户设备接入网络设备的系统
译文：Simultaneously, a system for user equipment connecting to network equipment is disclosed either.
