B超是一种很常见的检查，但是你知道B超中的“B”是什么意思吗？

首先来看看“B超”的英语↓

“scan”的意思是“扫描”，而“ultrasonography”表示的是“超声波检查法，超声波扫描术”。
例句：
The diagnosis was based on ultrasonography.
这一诊断是基于超声波检查法的结果。
那么“B”表示什么呢？超过20000Hz的声波，我们人耳是听不到的，它们被称为超声波。超声波可以通过多种形式来帮助诊断疾病。
通过振幅（amplitude）诊断的被称为“一维显示”，也叫作“A超”。
通过亮度（brightness）诊断的称为“二维显示”，也就是“B超”。
因此，“B超”里的“B”表示的是亮度。
也有一种说法是“Type B ultrasonic”，“B”表示的是“B型”，也是二维的意思。因为外国人习惯用ABC来表示123，所以AB代表的一维或者二维。
这里需要强调的是B超只是检查大类的统称，具体的检查一般都会加上具体的部位，中英文都是一样的，比如：

关于“超声检查”，外国人更常说“ultrasound”，比如“carotid ultrasound（颈动脉超声检查）”。
