“The organic cultivation model here is truly impressive!” Recently, trainees from the Seminar on Edible Mushroom Technology and Juncao Industry Development for Belt and Road Countries, organized by the Fujian Demonstration Base for the UN South-South Cooperation Network, visited GanoHerb to embark on a fascinating journey to explore China’s Reishi. This program, commissioned by the Ministry of Commerce of China, is one of the key South-South Cooperation projects aimed at promoting the global sharing of edible and medicinal mushroom technologies and advancing industrial collaboration.

On October 30, the seminar’s first stop was GanoHerb’s organic Reishi farm in Pucheng, where participants visited the Reishi Expo Park and GanoHerb Technology International Exchange Center. Through field observation and hands-on experience, the trainees gained an in-depth understanding of the growth environments of Ganoderma sinense and Ganoderma lucidum, systematically studied organic Reishi breeding and cultivation techniques, and expressed high recognition of GanoHerb’s comprehensive Reishi industrial chain system.

“The visit to the source base was an excellent experience. I usually study the literature on Cordyceps and Reishi, but this on-site visit has deepened my understanding of Reishi research and cultivation, inspiring new directions for my future studies,” said Mr. Ma from the Institute of Ancient Texts Collation at Sichuan University.

On November 3, the trainees continued their visit to GanoHerb’s headquarters in Fuzhou, where they toured the R&D and Production Center and the Exhibition Hall of Professor Lin Zhibin’s Reishi Academic Achievements, learning in detail how modern science and technology empower traditional Chinese medicine. Subsequently, both sides held in-depth discussions on topics such as Reishi cultivation technologies, industrial development models, and international market cooperation.

China boasts the world’s richest resources and the largest production and export volume of edible and medicinal mushrooms. Fujian Province is a major hub for mushroom research and production. Conducting practical technical training for developing countries is an important initiative by the Chinese government to strengthen South-South Cooperation, implement the Belt and Road Initiative, and promote exchanges and cooperation between China and other developing nations.
As the leading enterprise in China’s Reishi industry, GanoHerb has long adhered to international standards and actively participated in South-South Cooperation. To date, the company has hosted over 30 international training sessions on edible mushroom technologies, cultivating hundreds of professionals in the global edible and medicinal mushroom field. These efforts have contributed significantly to the development of the mushroom industries in developing countries, creating local employment and boosting economic growth.
In recognition of its contributions, the United Nations honored GanoHerb with the “Special Contribution Award for South-South Cooperation” at the 2014 Global South-South Development Expo. In 2015, the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) further designated GanoHerb as a “Demonstration Base for Edible and Medicinal Mushroom Cultivation and Processing Technology.”

This visit not only showcased China’s advanced technologies and mature models in the edible and medicinal mushroom industry but also laid a solid foundation for deeper cooperation in agricultural science and technology among Belt and Road countries. Looking ahead, GanoHerb will continue to strengthen technological innovation and industrial upgrading, contributing more Chinese wisdom and strength to global poverty alleviation and food security.
