Jetour
Travler
The Jetour Traveler, a rugged SUV under the Jetour brand, is designed with "all-scenario adaptability" as its core design concept. It offers two powertrain options: a gasoline version and a plug-in hybrid version (C-DM), perfectly matching the needs of different usage scenarios. The gasoline version is equipped with two turbocharged engines: a 1.5TD and a 2.0TD, forming a tiered power supply. The 1.5TD engine delivers a maximum power of 135kW and a peak torque of 290N·m, paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission, offering brisk power delivery and high shift efficiency, catering to both urban commuting and light off-road needs. The 2.0TD engine further enhances power reserves, with a maximum power of 187kW and a peak torque of 390N·m, paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission and offering a front-engine four-wheel drive (XWD) system, easily handling complex road conditions such as unpaved roads, providing ample confidence for off-road travel.
The plug-in hybrid version (C-DM) is equipped with a 1.5TD hybrid-specific engine paired with a 3-speed DHT transmission. The engine delivers a maximum power of 81kW and a peak torque of 140N·m, forming a powerful hybrid system with an efficient electric motor. It offers two pure electric range options: 129km and 212km. This version not only provides a zero-fuel-consumption experience for pure electric commuting but also ensures range anxiety-free long-distance travel through hybrid powertrain coordination. Furthermore, the four-wheel drive system ensures its off-road performance is comparable to the gasoline version. In terms of body structure, the Jetour Traveler offers two layouts: 5-door 5-seater and 5-door 7-seater, catering to the travel needs of different family sizes.
The outstanding performance of Jetour Traveler in the African market is no accident. Its product advantages deeply align with the consumer demands of the African market, making it the best-selling car brand in countries like Angola. The core reasons can be attributed to the following three points:
1. Robust Off-Road Capability for Complex Road Conditions: Road infrastructure development in Africa is uneven. Apart from major urban areas, large areas are unpaved, and the muddy conditions during the rainy season and the gravel-strewn conditions during the dry season place extremely high demands on vehicle off-road capability. Jetour Traveler's high ground clearance, large approach and departure angles, and four-wheel drive system easily handle these complex road conditions. Even with all four wheels suspended in a cross-axle test, it maintains body rigidity, and the doors and tailgate open and close normally, perfectly meeting the travel needs of African rural areas and wilderness. Compared to traditional urban SUVs, its rugged design is more suited to local usage scenarios.
2.2. Diverse Powertrains to Meet Cost Needs: The African market is highly sensitive to fuel costs. Research shows that 40% of consumers consider fuel consumption a core factor in their car purchase decisions. The Jetour Traveler's dual-powertrain layout precisely meets this demand: the 1.5TD gasoline version balances power and economy, suitable for daily commuting; the hybrid version can reduce daily operating costs through pure electric mode, and the long-range version with 212km can even meet the need for multi-day commutes without refueling, effectively avoiding the problem of unstable fuel supply in some parts of Africa. At the same time, its overall price is lower than comparable joint venture models, and the final price after importation to Africa is more in line with the purchasing power of local consumers.
3. Durability and Maintenance Convenience Build Trust: African consumers prioritize vehicle durability and ease of maintenance (35% of their needs are met). The Jetour Traveler's high-rigidity body not only improves safety but also enhances the vehicle's durability under complex road conditions, reducing the probability of malfunctions. More importantly, Jetour has been deeply rooted in the African market for many years, establishing a comprehensive sales and after-sales network in countries such as Angola and Mali. Leveraging the increased frequency of shipping routes between China and Africa, the parts transportation cycle has been shortened from 80 days to 50 days, and parts prices are affordable, significantly reducing repair waiting time and costs. Furthermore, clear maintenance plans and reasonable maintenance costs further lower the barrier to long-term use for users.
For the African market, Jetour Traveler accurately grasped the core needs of complex road conditions, fuel sensitivity, and a focus on durability. Leveraging Jetour's well-established localization network and the favorable policies between China and Africa, it achieved a perfect match between product strength and market demand. As a representative model of Chinese brands deeply rooted in the African market, Jetour Traveler not only provides African consumers with high-quality travel solutions but also sets a benchmark for "adapting to local needs" in overseas expansion.
