这是 Brearley Architects + Urbanists (BAU) 学校项目专题周的第三个项目。让我们来到苏州科技城西渚实验幼儿园。

这个项目学习了荷兰结构主义，将功能项目缩小到最小的元素（教室），然后在整个场地上重复该元素。其成果是一个教室形成的村落-小规模的“房子”般的建筑在场地重复，创造一个有着丰富的建筑构造和庭院的图底关系，以保存消失的村庄记忆。

这个项目荣获l了BEED必达未来校园规划建筑设计奖。

简介 Intro

苏州南部的外围正在从散布村落的农田演变为高密度的现代城市。幼儿园和学校是城市规划的重要组成部分：他们被定好了位置、规模和时间来满足迅速增长的人口。

Suzhou’s southern periphery is transforming from village-speckled farmland to high-density modernist city. Kindergartens and schools form an essential part of the urban plan: located, scaled and timed to satisfy the burgeoning population.

大多数中国的幼儿园建筑规模都很大，而孩子很小。在中国，这种对立往往通过在较大的建筑中构建小规模元素来做分解，将规模缩小到孩子们适合的大小。

Kindergarten buildings in China are big. Kindergarten children in China are small (like all kinder-kids around the world). In China, this dichotomy is often resolved by constructing small-scale elements within the larger buildings to help bring the scale down to that of the children.

从荷兰结构主义汲取经验，这个项目尝试了一种不同的方法——将功能项目缩小到最小的元素（教室），然后在整个场地上重复该元素。我们甚至建议，行政部门可以容纳在一个这些小元素的建筑群中（形式容纳功能）。

Learning from Dutch structuralism, this project tries a different approach – reducing the program down to its smallest element (the classroom) and then repeating that element over the entire site. Even suggesting, that administration could be accommodated in a collection of these smaller elements (form accommodating function).

最终成果是一个由教室组成的村落——小型“房子”般的建筑在场地重复，创造一个有着大量建筑和庭院的图底，以保存消失的村落记忆。

The result is a village of classrooms – small-scale “house”-like buildings repeated over the site to create a rich figure-ground of building fabric and courtyards that keep alive the memory of the disappearing villages.

但荷兰结构主义的非地方性也备受争议，雷姆·库哈斯就曾批判它不仅使所有建筑一致，而且每栋建筑的里里外外都毫无差异，从而无法营造场所。

Koolhaas has critiqued the placelessness of Dutch Structuralism, suggesting that it not only makes every building look the same but that all spaces within and without a single building remain non-differentiated, and consequently lose the ability to make place.

为了克服这一弊端，本项目采用了一系列设计策略：首先，各种空地——小庭院（或封闭或开放）通向一个更大的单独户外活动空间；其次，从项目的边缘到中心以各种颜色区分了位置；最后，以一系列当地特有的“房子”细节来打造多样性——这些便于孩子们和教职人员区分各间“房子”，并清楚地定位自己所在的区域。

This project uses a series of strategies to counter this critique: a hierarchy of open spaces – small courtyards, some enclosed, some open at one end or side and linked to a single larger outdoor play space; a colour spectrum exploring spatial locations on site from edge to centre; and finally, a series of specific local “house” details to create difference – all allowing the children and the staff to differentiate one “house” from the next.

有人认为，场所是附有记忆的空间。而使记忆附着必须存在表达和差异。所有这些项目设计（清晰的表达、各种开放空间、从边缘到中心以各种颜色区分；每间“房子”的具体细节）为孩子、老师和员工营造出了一个令人难忘的地方。

It has been argued that place is space with memory attached. In order for memory to be attached articulation and difference need to exist. All of this projects strategies (clear articulation, a variety of open spaces, an edge-to-centre colour spectrum; and specific “house” details) results in a project full of memorable places for children, teachers, and staff.
