BureauVeritas EVP:Philippe Donche-Gay
The 69th annual IACS Council meeting took place in Genoa this 24-26 June 2014 where Philippe Donche-Gay, BureauVeritas Executive Vice-President and Head of the Marine & Offshore Division, was elected to serve for one year as the IACS Chairman as of July 1st 2014.
PatrickLe Dily, Director of Compliance and Regulatory Matters, Marine and Offshore Division, was elected as the year long Chairman of IACS General Policy Group(GPG).
Inaddition, Bureau Veritas will be represented by Jean-François Segretain, MarineTechnical Director, and Charles Delaneau, Marine Statutory & ClassificationAffairs Director, in the IACS Council and GPG respectively.
IACS is the leading international association of classification societies. Its members, among which ABS, DNV GL, Lloyd’s Register and RINA Services, currentlyclass more than 90% of the world’s tonnage.
IACSis dedicated to promoting technical standards in the fields of safety andenvironmental protection. The chairmanship position rotates annually among the 12 members with each member holding the position for one year.
Philippe Donche-Gay says, “The great scope of IACS’s work goes on out of sight,focussing on the technical detail which helps keep shipping and shipbuilding safe and efficient. All 12 members are contributing resources in the form of 350 engineers who work on IACS work groups. The detailed plans show the very wide scope of the work of IACS and just how vital it is to shipping.”
