Bureau Veritas uses Dassault Systèmes’ 3DExperience platform to build 3D models of the ships and offshore platforms classed with the Society and perform checking calculations, notably for strength and stability.
Since June this year, following training of our Local Plan Approval Office surveyors in Europe and Asia, the 3DExperience platform is used to automatically generate finite element models of ships. These are then assessed using our VeriSTAR Hull software.
A number of ships are now checked using this method, including a new Ropax project at LaNaval shipyard in Spain. An agreement has also been signed this month with Oshima shipyard to build digital twin models of six bulk carrier newbuildings. They will be used by the Foremost Group shipowner to optimize the vessels’ hull maintenance.
