Bureau Veritas support clients to compliance the BWM
With invasive aquatic species carried by ships presenting a major threat to marine ecosystems, the IMO has introduced a new regulation: the International Convention for the Control and Management of Ships Ballast Water & Sediments (BWM).
Ballast Water Management (BWM) Convention enters into force on September 8, 2017. It is applies to all ships designed or constructed to carry ballast water, including submersibles, floating craft, floating platforms, FSUs and FPSOs. Ships of 400 GT and above are subject to surveys and must be issued with an International Ballast Water Management Certificate. They must also carry on board an approved Ballast Water Management Plan (BWMP) and record book.

Bureau Veritas is on hand to support clients in the countdown to BWM by preparing or approving technical documents such as the BWMP, surveying ships and issuing BWM certificates. Bureau Veritas also supporting owners with advice and training. To obtain their BWM Certification in time, BV advises that the process needs to be started now.
