I think you are talking about a normal type of short-term infatuation (迷恋) we call "a crush". When I was a teenager, for example, I had a terrible crush on a blond-haired boy in my English literature class – I spent more time studying him than the books I was supposed to read. For some people, an infatuation or crush becomes an all-consuming obsession (痴迷) that is psychologically unhealthy.
我觉得你说的属于正常的短暂迷恋,可称之为"a crush"。譬如我十几岁时,疯狂迷恋同上英语文学课的一个金发男孩,以至于相比要读的书,我花了更多时间研究他。对某些人来说,当这种痴迷一发而不可收拾时,就属于心理不健康的表现了。
