Behind the popular micro-blog account for Yutu, China's first lunar rover, is a young woman in Beijing, Xi'an Daily
reported,disproving the conclusion of many people that the account is run by the government. Since its emergence
on Sina Weibo on Dec 1, the account using the name Lunar Rover Yutu has garnered more than 500,000 followers. It releases information and updates on the rover's operation on the moon with a first-person narrative and in a timely manner. The unofficial spokeswoman is working for a joint effort by Xinhua and guokr.com that aims to promote knowledge of the moon and China's lunar exploration program, according to the report.
据《西安日报》报道，"月球车玉兔"微博背后的主人原来是一位来自北京的萌妹子，而非许多人猜测的官方账号。自12月1日上线以来，该账号已获得50多万粉丝。"月球车玉兔"总是在第一时间以第一人称发布关于月球车玉兔号的信息。据悉，这位非官方的萌妹子是在为新华社和果壳网运作该项目，旨在科普月球知识和我国探月工程。
