There are many words and phrases. For example:这样的词和表达有很多。例如:

[能干的人]

Go-getter – An active, energetic person who pursues what they want. Often used to describe a person's work ethic. For example: Murray is always working extra hours and taking on extra work. He's a real go-getter.

Go-getter(能干的人)指积极主动、充满活力、追求自己想要的东西的人,通常用来描述一个人的职业道德。例如:默里总是加班做额外的工作。他真能干。

[守信用的人]


Man/Woman of his/her word – Trustworthy person who can be counted on to do what they say they will. For example: Trust me, if Tim said he is going to finish the job, he will. He is a man of his word.

Man/Woman of his/her word(守信用的人)指可信赖的人,可以指望他们能说到做到。例如:相信我,如果蒂姆说过他快完成这项工作了,那就是快了。他是个守信用的人。

[交际花]

Social butterfly – Extrovert who loves to talk to people and attend social occasions. Usually refers to a woman. For example:Theresa has attended so many parties, she's turned into a social butterfly!

Social butterfly(交际花)指爱与人说话、爱出席社交场合的外向型的人,通常指女人。例如:特里萨参加过太多的聚会,已经成为一个交际花啦!

[令人扫兴的人]


Wet blanket – A person who spoils others' fun by not joining in or being critical of their activity. For example: I'm sorry to besuch a wet blanket, but I'm afraid I have to go home now.

Wet blanket(令人扫兴的人)指通过不加入或挑剔别人的活动来扫他们的兴。例如:我让大家扫兴,实在太对不起了。不过,我现在必须回家啦。

[极为懒惰的人]

Couch potato – Lazy person or one who likes to watch a lot of TV or play a lot of video games. For example: Jack is such a couch potato – all he does is play video games and watch TV.

Couch potato(极为懒惰的人)指懒惰的人或非常喜欢看电视或玩游戏的人。例如:杰克如此懒惰,打游戏看电视是他的全部。

[拍马屁的人]

Apple polisher – Someone who curries favor through flattery. For example: You should be wary of him, and he's a real apple polisher.

Apple polisher(拍马屁的人)指某人通过说恭维话来拍马屁。例如:你可得多留心那小子,他可是个货真价实的马屁精。

[吝啬鬼]

Cheapskate, tightwad – Both refer to people who don't like to spend money. A cheapskate refers more to a person who is stingy. A tightwad refers more to a person who doesn't spend money unless absolutely necessary. For example: Todd is such a cheapskate. He made his mother buy her own dinner at the restaurant. Julie is a tightwad but she's saved enough money to go on vacation to South America.

Cheapskate, tightwad(吝啬鬼),两个词都指不喜欢花钱的人。Cheapskate更多的是指一个人小气,tightwad更多的是指一个人不花钱,除非绝对有必要。例如:托德太吝啬了,在餐馆吃晚饭还让他妈妈自己买单。朱莉很小气,但却攒下足够的钱去南美度假。
