Overweight young people have fewer friends than their healthy weight counterparts, foreign media reported. US researchers say that fat people tend to choose friends who are slim - yet they are often not selected in return. Then they may turn to obese peers for friendship. Young people are also more likely to socially marginalize those who are fat. As a consequence, overweight young people have fewer friends, on average, than normal weight people.
