故宫
英文名：The Palace Museum
或：The Forbidden City (紫禁城)
The Forbidden City is a massive site. It is called the Forbidden City because it was the home to the Chinese Emperors for many years, and only their servants and Chinese Royalty were allowed in during this time. Should anyone else have entered, the penalty was death!
紫禁城非常大。之所以称为"禁"，是因为曾有中国皇帝在里面住许多年，那时候只有仆人和中国皇室成员才可以进去。如果其他人进去了呢？斩立决！
Personally speaking, I found the Forbidden City amazing at the start, but it got a little tedious after a while as the buildings get very repetitive. It is definitely worth a visit however and is supposed to be one of the best preserved old Chinese buildings.
就我个人而言，我起初觉得紫禁城非常美，但过了一会儿就感觉有点儿单调了，因为里面的建筑长得都差不多。但它的确是个值得一去的地方，属于中国古建筑里保存最好的一批吧。
长城
英文名：The Great Wall
It was a superb trip and I would heartily recommend it. I would say visiting the Great Wall was one of the travel highlights of my life.

It is hard work climbing the steep steps. Your legs will ache for days.

I've been to the Great Wall around 5 times and personally I think that the worst season to go there is during the summer, or during a Chinese national holiday.

兵马俑
英文名：The Terracotta Warriors
或：The Terracotta Army
The Terracotta Army is wonderful. There are over 8,000 of them just in Pit One. They were made to accompany the first Qin Emperor in the afterlife. The soldiers are hollow so their spirits can enter (our guide said).
兵马俑令人称奇。仅一号坑里就有8000多尊俑，他们都是秦始皇死后的陪葬品。俑身都是空心的，以便他们的灵魂进入(我们的导游是这么说的)。
Alongside the General there is a separate exhibit of the Kneeling Archer. This was my favorite and I would think he would be at the forefront of any military activity.
将军俑旁边有个独立的跪俑。我最喜欢这尊了，我觉得他当时参战一定每次都冲在最前线。
长江三峡
英文名：The Three Gorges
The Three Gorges themselves are known as Qutang Xia, Wu Xia and Xiling Xia. They are not as spectacular as they once were due to the rise in the level of the river but are still impressive all the same. The best part of the trip was a visit to the Little Three Gorges as the river here, called the Daning, is shallow and the cliffs are very narrow.
三峡指的是瞿塘峡、巫峡和西陵峡。因为水面升高的缘故，三峡不如以前那么气势恢宏了，但也仍然很壮观。此次旅行给我印象最深的其实是"小三峡"，小三峡所在的大宁河比较浅，河边的峭壁也很险峻。
There are two cable car rides in Chongqing that cross both rivers - the Jialing and the Yangzi. I took the Yangzi River Cable Car. This particular crossing has a length of 1,166 meters.
在重庆的嘉陵江和扬子江上各有一条过江缆车，我选了扬子江上那条，全长达1166米。
布达拉宫
英文名：The Potala Palace
The Potala Palace is a massive structure situated on the top of a hill. Built in the 7th century, it was once the home of Princess WenCheng of the Tang Dynasty, who came to marry a Tibetan leader.
布达拉宫是一座建在山顶上的庞大建筑。它始建于公元7世纪，曾是唐代文成公主的住处，文成公主当时嫁给了吐蕃王(即松赞干布)。
The walk up is very steep. It is a good idea to try this after you have been in Lhasa for several days if you are not used to the altitude.
因为进寺院的阶梯很陡，所以建议你先游览拉萨几天，等适应了那儿的高海拔之后，再去布达拉宫。
莫高窟
英文名：The Mogao Grottoes
The Mogao Grottoes housed over 2,000 statues and 45,000 square meters of murals. Painstakingly built over a span of over 10 centuries (a 1,000-year long project!), it was truly a feat of devotion and imagination.
里面有2000多尊塑像、4.5万平方米的壁画。历经10多个世纪的艰辛才完成(跨越千年的工程！)，莫高窟的确是人类奉献精神和想象力相结合的盛宴。
Photography is not permitted inside the caves. If you want a keepsake of the paintings you will need to buy a book or some postcards. Note that the grottoes are likely to be closed during rainy weather to protect them from moisture.
洞窟内不允许拍照。如果你想留住壁画的样子，可以买本书或买一些明信片。注意，为了防潮，莫高窟下雨天很可能不开放。
