China and the US have initialed an agreement to help implement a 2010 federal law aimed at curbing offshore tax evasion, the US Treasury said on its website. The reciprocal agreement will give the US government information on US-owned financial accounts in China, and the US in turn will provide banks' information on Chinese residents' US accounts. The two countries agreed on the terms, but are scrutinizing the details before officially signing it.
