优衣库母公司迅销公司向彭博证实,大约有一万名全职优衣库员工将被允许一天工作十个小时,来换取三天的周末休息时间。
The trial program, which is being offered to roughly a fifth of the Japanese retail giant's workforce, is aimed at boosting employee retention. The company told Bloomberg that too many of its in-store workers downgrade to part-time, in order to spend time with families or care for their elderly parents.
这个试点计划将会针对大约五分之一的优衣库员工,旨在帮助促进员工留任。这家日本零售业巨头告诉彭博称,优衣库太多的店面员工成了兼职工,就是为了花时间和家人在一起,照顾年老的父母。

➤四天工作制即four-day week,或者可以说三天周末制three-day weekend。倒班可以说work in shift,白班叫day shift,晚班叫night shift。
➤之所以会有这个想法是因为日本的老龄化问题(aging of population)日益严重,这一福利(welfare benefits)措施能让员工有更多时间和家人在一起,照顾好双亲。如果不实行这种制度,日本因照顾亲人而离职的人数(多数是女性)会越变越多。
➤为了留住员工( employee retention),减少因为培训新员工需要的时间成本(time cost),降低离职率(quit rate),迅销公司才出此对策。
