The Civil Aviation Administration’s rule banning power banks that lack 3C certification or fall within recall lists from being taken on flights has continued to spark public concern. Many are now wondering whether railway stations will begin strictly inspecting power banks as well.
In response, on July 1, a spokesperson from China Railway Group explained that railway transport currently follows the standards set in the Catalogue of Prohibited and Restricted Items for Railway Passengers, jointly issued by the National Railway Administration and the Ministry of Public Security. According to these standards, “clearly labeled power banks with a rated energy of no more than 100Wh are not classified as restricted carry-on items.”
Customer service representatives from the 12306 railway platform also confirmed: “When traveling by train, power banks are not checked for 3C certification or brand. As long as the rated energy does not exceed 100Wh, they are allowed to be carried onboard.”
