August 1, 2025, Shenzhen – The "Chips Feeding the AI Revolution" tech salon, co-hosted by Shenzhen Bao’an Enterprise Service Center and the Bay Area International Exchange Service Center, and supported by InterNations, concluded successfully. Industry veteran Jurgen Geerlings headlined the event, drawing professionals from semiconductor design, AI algorithms, cloud computing, and related fields.
Expert Insights
With 35 years’ experience at Philips, Sony, NXP, and Huawei—plus over 25 patents—Geerlings delivered a lucid presentation on semiconductor-AI synergy.
"Every leap in AI computing hinges on chip breakthroughs," he emphasized, citing Moore’s Law evolution and NVIDIA’s H100 GPU as catalysts for innovations like ChatGPT.
He spotlighted China’s rapid progress, noting how Huawei’s Ascend 910B and Biren’s BR100 chips narrow the gap with global leaders.
Sustainability Urgency
Geerlings issued a stark warning: A single large AI data center consumes power equivalent to two nuclear plants. He championed green computing — prioritizing renewables and chip efficiency — as critical for AI’s sustainable future.
Vibrant Exchange
Attendees explored semiconductor innovation and AI applications in dynamic discussions, with local enterprises engaging deeply on global competitiveness. This event follows Bao’an’s July 10 "Supporting Global Expansion" trade conference, reinforcing the center’s commitment to building international bridges for "Bao’an Smart Manufacturing" brands.
The center will continue hosting tech-focused forums to advance cross-border collaboration and empower local innovators.
Bay Area TEA Talk is a platform for international scholars, experts, and professionals to share their ideas, opinions, and research achievements concerning technology, entrepreneurship, and arts.
