Recently, a villager in Tongchuan City, Shaanxi Province, posted a video claiming that a young man in the village successfully flew a "self-made aircraft", attracting many local onlookers.
On November 8, a reporter contacted Mr. Cui, a villager, who explained that the aircraft was built by a  young lad surnamed Wang. On November 5, Wangs wedding day, a friend piloted the aircraft for over ten minutes as a celebratory gesture before landing safely.
Video footage shows the pilot operating a powered paraglidera wheeled trike equipped with an engine and propellercircling dozens of meters in the air while encased in a steel frame.
According to Mr. Cui, Wang successfully completed his first flight four or five years ago. He bought the parts and built it himself. He flies from time to time and the flights have been quite stable. Takeoff and landing are both done on straight roads, he said.
Mr. Cui also revealed that Wang owns another aircrafta two-seater without a paraglider—which has also been flown. Other villagers confirmed that Wangs friend piloted the machine during the wedding celebration.
It is worth noting that the device used in the flight is not a conventional airplane, but a type of powered paraglider known as a wheeled power parachute. Such equipment is relatively common and often used in aviation sports associations across China.
Although the device has flown successfully multiple times, some netizens have raised safety concerns. According to Article 14 of the Administrative Measures for Aviation Sports issued by the General Administration of Sport of China, all aviation sports units and individuals must apply for airspace approval from air traffic control authorities before conducting any flight activities.
On the afternoon of November 8, an employee from a branch of the Northwest Air Traffic Management Bureau under the Civil Aviation Administration of China confirmed that paragliders and similar aircraft must report to local air traffic control and military aviation authorities before flight.
