On November 29, 2025, another Bay Area TEA Talk — Passive Income with Mobile Apps: From 0 to 22M Downloads in 4 Years was successfully held at the Bay Area International Exchange Service Center.
The event featured Zsolt Kallos, Co-founder of mobile app company KallosSoft, as the keynote speaker. He engaged in an open dialogue with attendees from the technology, entrepreneurship, and related fields, sharing insights on tech entrepreneurship, the value of failure, and pathways to success.
In his presentation, Zsolt revealed that his success was built upon eight years of entrepreneurial failures, which he regarded as an indispensable learning period. During those years, he encountered repeated setbacks — from building unrealistic platforms to developing apps that only served his own interests. However, these experiences allowed him to accumulate deep technical expertise and market insight. Eventually, he pivoted toward solving widespread user needs — such as video stabilization and photo restoration — through practical utility apps. By conducting rigorous market research, he scaled his business from zero to tens of millions of downloads within four years, successfully establishing a subscription-based passive income model.
The following Q&A session was dynamic and engaging, with audience interaction lasting three times longer than the presentation itself. Questions covered core aspects of entrepreneurship, including initial user acquisition, market research methods, cross-platform technology selection such as Flutter, as well as how to find co-founders and manage remote teams. Drawing from his own experience, Zsolt provided detailed and thoughtful answers to each query.
