“大好机遇在眼前，你们却在街头打架”，英专家给香港青年敲警钟

发生在香港的暴力乱港行径已经持续了两月有余，并且有愈演愈烈之势。

在别有用心的外部势力的煽动下，香港反对派和一些激进势力打着所谓民主的幌子，恶意破坏香港法治与社会治安，干出了冲击中央政府驻港机构、污损国旗、国徽、区徽、暴力对待大陆记者等恶劣行径。

据香港警方公布的资料显示，目前被拘捕的暴徒中，至少有5名是未满16岁的学生，最小的只有12岁。

这些心智尚未成熟、被教唆成为“暴力前锋”的年轻人们，用香港阿Sir的话来说，可真是“打不是，不打也不是！真的很心痛！”

近日，中国改革友谊奖章获得者、英国48家集团俱乐部主席斯蒂芬·佩里（Stephen Perry）在接受中国日报专访时表示，粤港澳大湾区建设为香港带来了前所未有的历史机遇，但是香港年轻人们却在街头上打架，“这毫无意义（it doesn't make sense）”。

谈到香港局势，斯蒂芬·佩里为何反复强调粤港澳大湾区的重要性？

The problem now is, of course, demonstrations and violence are occurring in Hong Kong and that will not lead to a successful outcome. If it goes on, that's not a good thing for the Central Government. It’s not a good thing for Hong Kong.

显而易见，现在香港频发示威游行和暴力事件，这是不会有好结果的。如果继续下去，这对中央政府来说不是一件好事，对香港来说也不是一件好事。

But most of all, let us look at where Hong Kong is right now. The Chinese government has shown the greatest respect and greatest admiration for Hong Kong and the people of Hong Kong by announcing the Greater Bay Area. This is a successor to the Pearl River Delta. It's a much smaller area. It's concentrated around 12 cities, led by Hong Kong and Shenzhen with Guangzhou playing a very important part as well in the future.

但我们先看看香港现在所处的情境，中央政府已经宣布了粤港澳大湾区建设战略，这是对香港和香港人民展现出的极大尊重。粤港澳大湾区是继珠三角区域合作之后的又一升级型战略。这个区域区域面积更小，集中在约12个城市，以香港和深圳为主导，广州在未来也将扮演非常重要的角色。

This area reminds me of a great deal of the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone. And the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone transformed a small fishing village into one of the world's leading cities today.

这个区域使我想起深圳经济特区的许多往事。深圳经济特区已经从一个小渔村发展成了当今世界领先的城市之一。

It is not an accident that companies like Alibaba, Tencent, and Huawei built and developed their capability for international, as well as national development, in Shenzhen. It is a very open, free environment in which these grew and developed. Hong Kong and Shenzhen have a wonderful opportunity to lead the Greater Bay Area.

阿里巴巴、腾讯、华为这些公司在深圳积蓄力量提升能力，以寻求国际和国内发展，这绝非偶然。深圳提供的成长和发展环境非常开放自由。香港和深圳有着绝佳的机会，携手引领大湾区发展。

Here is Hong Kong standing at the beginning of one of the greatest opportunities they probably will ever have, and they are fighting in the streets. And it doesn't make sense.

香港正站在前所未有的重大历史机遇的开端，但是他们却在街上打架，这毫无意义。

They need to be focused on the Greater Bay Area. They need to be working with the other 11 cities, especially Shenzhen, to form a clear idea of how to develop a Greater Bay Area that is probably going to be unparalleled in the world.

香港需要把重心放在大湾区，需要与其他11个城市，尤其是深圳合作，就如何发展一个世界上独一无二的大湾区形成一个清晰的思路。

So I say to the people of Hong Kong: Now is the time to participate actively and not create a bad impression in fellow citizens and the cities of the Greater Bay Area.

所以我要对香港人民说，现在是时候积极参与大湾区建设，不要给其他大湾区的市民和城市留下不好的印象。

It's not an easy time for young people. It's a time of great change. And they have some concerns. One of them I understand very well is the enormously high price of property in Hong Kong, which creates a great difficulty for young people to find homes and to build their families. And that's not right and it is a problem that needs to be addressed and solved.

对年轻人来说，这是一段充满挑战的时期、一个蕴藏着巨大变革的时代。他们有很多担忧，其中的一点我非常了解，那就是香港高昂的房价。这给年轻人们寻求居所、组建家庭带来了很大的困难。这是不对的，是亟需解决的。

Hong Kong will have to go through a period of coming to terms with what has happened. Who knows how fast the Greater Bay Area will develop?

Hong Kong is part of China. It's going to stay part of China.

香港是中国的一部分，它永远是中国的一部分。

Hong Kong and China both have their clear positions on the government and the way that the government of Hong Kong and the central government will operate. It is “one country, two systems”. The rule of law is still independent and works well in Hong Kong.

香港与中央政府有着清晰的立场，运作方式也很明确，这就是“一国两制”，香港的法治仍然独立并且运行良好。

One thing is for sure: Either Hong Kong quiets down and allows the changes to be made, or it will be quieted down and then the changes will be made. One thing's for sure - changes will happen.

有一件事是肯定的，就是香港要么自发平静下来，并允许改变发生，要么不得不平静下来，然后依然做出改变。有一件事是确定的——变化一定会发生。

And the opportunities will be there. But it may be that the Greater Bay Area will have moved faster than Hong Kong moves and my great worry is that the leaders of Hong Kong are not focusing on the future. They are focusing on the present. My worry about the demonstrators is that they are focusing on the present and not the future. And Hong Kong may suffer as a consequence.

机会就在眼前，但或许大湾区的发展速度会更快，把香港甩在身后，这是我最大的担忧。我就怕香港的领导者没有着眼于未来，只关注当下。我也怕示威者们也只关注眼前，忘记了未来。香港可能因此而付出惨痛的代价。

So I hope Hong Kong will find a way to get through this difficult period, and calm down, and be more coherent about the changes that it wants. But no changes are going to come from demonstrations and violence in the street.

所以我希望香港能找到出路，度过这段艰难的时期，冷静下来，更加清楚自己想要什么样的改变。但没有任何改变是可以从街头游行和暴力中得来的。
