港警新“一哥”首度发声，心情并非兴奋而是哀伤

依照《中华人民共和国香港特别行政区基本法》的有关规定，根据香港特别行政区行政长官林郑月娥的提名和建议，国务院2019年11月19日决定：任命邓炳强为警务处处长，免去卢伟聪的警务处处长职务。

China's State Council on Tuesday appointed Tang Ping-keung as Commissioner of Police of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR), replacing Lo Wai-chung. The decision was made in accordance with the HKSAR Basic Law, and based on the nomination and suggestion of HKSAR's Chief Executive Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor.

邓炳强说，今天能够接任警务处处长，继续为香港的治安作出贡献，其实是我毕生的荣幸。

其实理应我该感到兴奋，但是我眼见着过去的五个多月，香港发生的事情，不法之徒是枉顾香港的法治，冲击法治，到处纵火，到处堵路，到处袭击市民，以及袭击我们警务人员，其实这一刻我的心情是很哀伤的。那我唯有在我现在这个工作岗位里，继续去承担。

In the monthslong social unrests stemming from the extradition bill incident, radicals have ignored and broken the rule of law, setting fires, blocking roads and assaulting Hong Kong residents and police officers, Tang said.

我希望在接下来的日子里，可以首先保护好我的同事，支持我们的同事继续去执法，也都希望暴力的人士不要再用暴力了，我也希望社会继续支持我们的工作，希望香港的治安能够尽快恢复平静。

Speaking after his appointment, Tang expressed his hope that the public would continue to support police in law enforcement so as to restore order in Hong Kong as soon as possible.

对于邓炳强的任命，香港特首林郑月娥表示：“邓炳强在警队服务逾30年，对刑事调查工作、国际联络事务及行动指挥方面拥有丰富经验。他表现卓越，具领导才能，我深信他定能带领警队，迎接未来的挑战。”

According to a HKSAR government press release issued Tuesday morning, Lam expressed her confidence in Tang leading the Hong Kong Police Force. "Mr Tang has served in the Hong Kong Police Force for over 30 years and has extensive experience in criminal investigation, international liaison as well as operational command," Lam was quoted as saying.

作风强硬的港警新“一哥”

值此香港暴力横行、社会撕裂、秩序混乱之际接手警队，邓炳强可谓临危受命。
