Russia has decided to leave the International Space Station (ISS) after 2024 and will start building a Russian one by that time, said Yury Borisov, director general of Russia's state space corporation Roscosmos, on Tuesday.

“You know that we are working within the framework of international cooperation at the International Space Station. Undoubtedly, we will fulfill all our obligations to our partners, but the decision to leave the station after 2024 has been made,” Borisov told Putin in the Kremlin-issued readout.
Mr. Putin’s response: “Good.”
Russia said Tuesday it will withdraw from the International Space Station after 2024, signaling the end of a joint project that has served as a key symbol of post-Cold War cooperation with Washington.

据美媒报道称，在俄乌冲突背景下，俄罗斯宣布将退出国际空间站的决定并不令人感到意外。

据介绍，国际空间站主要是由俄罗斯（Roscosmos）、美国（NASA）、日本（JAXA）、加拿大（CSA）、欧洲（ESA）航天机构联合建造并运行，是一个拥有现代化科研设备、可开展大规模、多学科基础和应用科学研究的空间实验室，为在微重力环组件，负责提供电源、推进、导航、通信、姿控、温控、充压等功能。
NASA and Roscosmos were the two main partners responsible for building and operating the ISS, with the European Space Agency, the Canadian Space Agency and the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency also involved.
据悉，空间站只是位于近地轨道，并非完全意义上的真空，如果完全没有人为干预的话，可能会跌出轨道。而由俄罗斯控制的推进系统，则是保证空间站“不跌落”的关键。报道称，没有俄罗斯的帮助，这些（推进）机器可能只能被移交给美国国家航空航天局或者直接被替换掉。

此外，俄罗斯著名的“联盟号”是最常用也是最可靠的太空发射工具。尽管美国2020年曾用SpaceX公司的“龙”飞船成功将宇航员送入国际空间站，但多数分析认为，“龙”飞船仍然不够稳定。

普莱斯说，“鉴于在国际空间站开展的重要科学工作，以及我们两国的航天局多年来进行的有价值的专业合作，尤其是我们又重新达成了太空飞行合作协议，这是令人遗憾的进展”。
Ned Price, the US State Department spokesman, said during a briefing on Tuesday that “I understand that we were taken by surprise by the public statement that went out,” and added that Russia’s announcement was “an unfortunate development.”
“It’s an unfortunate development, given the critical scientific work performed at the ISS, the valuable professional collaboration our space agencies have had over the years, and especially in light of our renewed agreement on spaceflight cooperation,” Price said.
