这是什么绝世小可爱！

这只又像鼠又像兔的萌物，叫伊犁鼠兔（Ili pika）。它是新疆的特有物种，生活在天山山脉高寒山区。

近日，有志愿者在新疆天山拍摄到伊犁鼠兔。

这是时隔八年人们再次用相机拍到清晰的伊犁鼠兔照片。志愿者还带来了好消息，伊犁鼠兔出现了繁殖迹象！

An Ili pika has been spotted by a volunteer team in the mountain areas of Jinghe county, located in the Xinjiang Uyghur autonomous region.

pika /ˈpaɪkə/：鼠兔

There are less than 1,000 Ili pika remaining, making them rarer than giant pandas. 

伊犁鼠兔目前不足1000只，比大熊猫还要稀有。

In 2008, the animal was listed as endangered by the International Union for Conservation of Nature.

在2008年，伊犁鼠兔被列入《IUCN（世界自然保护联盟） 濒危物种红色名录》。

当网友们看到这一可爱的动物，纷纷表示“萌化了”“第一眼就被迷住了”。

生长在高寒地带

吃“名贵药材”为生

伊犁鼠兔属兔形目，鼠兔科。

外形像兔子又像老鼠，毛色鲜艳，额头和颈侧有3块棕色斑点，是我国特有物种，也是仅有的24个鼠兔属种中耳朵最大、后足最长、体形最大的一种，成年伊犁鼠兔体长约20厘米。

The Ili pika is a beautiful animal with generally bright coloration. It has big rusty-red spots on the forehead, the top of the head and the sides of the neck. The hair color behind the ears and on the nape is pale. Adults are more than 200 millimeters long.

伊犁鼠兔喜欢栖息于海拔2800米-4100米间的高寒地带，新疆天山是其唯一的栖息地。

它们靠采食天山雪莲、红景天、金莲花等药用植物生存。白鼬、石貂、狐狸和各种猛禽都是它的天敌。

Resembling a rabbit and a mouse, the Ili Pika is endemic to Xinjiang and usually lives in holes between bare rocks at an altitude of 2,800m to 4,000m. They are used to living on the extremely cold plateau and feeding on herbs like rhodiola and snow lotus, found in the Tianshan Mountains.

它是怎么被发现的呢

其实，伊犁鼠兔是偶然间被发现的。

1983年7月，伊犁地区防疫站组织了一支自然疫源地调查队，驻扎在尼勒克县吉里马拉勒山山谷，李维东作为防疫工作人员，参加了此次调查。

一天，李维东正在峭壁间考察，突然有一只小动物从岩石缝隙中探出了灰色的小脑袋，有点像灰兔，又有点像大老鼠，体长约20厘米，耳朵比老鼠略长、比兔子短。这个怪异的形象立即引起了李维东的好奇。

In July 1983, when Li Weidong was conducting fieldwork for the local health and epidemic prevention authority, he noticed a small creature emerging from a gap between large rocks in the mountains in the Ili Kazak autonomous prefecture.

李维东和他的团队在2014年发现伊犁鼠兔的踪迹

调查结束，李维东回到单位查阅了国内外大量文献，初步确定为动物新种。

之后多次深入野外调查，与中国科学院动物所研究员马勇完成了定种研究，确认这是一个新物种。1986年李维东和马勇将其正式命名为伊犁鼠兔。

Li, who was familiar with rodents, was unable to discover any records relating to it. In 1986, the animal was recognized as a new species, so Li decided to call it the "Ili Pika" and devote himself to its conservation.

在之后的几十年里，李维东组织20位志愿者与他一起，全身心投入到寻找伊犁鼠兔的调查科研和保护工作当中。

栖息地受全球变暖影响

由于气温上升，天山冰川消退，积雪高度上升，伊犁鼠兔被迫逐渐撤退到山顶。它们最初发现于海拔3200至3400米之间。现在他们已经撤退到海拔4100米的地方。

"Global warming has forced the animals to move further up the mountain. The size of their habitat has shrunk by 70 percent," said Li.

这些年来，随着天山1号冰川保护区域，中华伊犁鼠兔保护地先后建立。

伊犁鼠兔最后的栖息地，被保护了下来。

外国人也被萌化了

早在伊犁鼠兔上一次被拍到的时候，它萌萌的外表就吸引了一批国外媒体。

英国广播公司将伊犁鼠兔称为“神奇的兔子”，Magic bunny。

BBC：中国的伊犁鼠兔：“神奇的兔子”火了

CNN称它“比熊猫还珍奇可爱”：Rarer and cuter than a panda。

许多外国人觉得伊犁鼠兔长得像泰迪熊，teddy bear-like。

There are less than 1,000 of these teddy bear-like creatures living in the Tianshan mountain range in the Xinjiang region of northwestern China.

它们比熊猫更稀有，有人甚至觉得比熊猫还可爱，这些长得颇像泰迪熊的小动物生活在中国西北部的新疆天山地区，只有不到1000只。
