"Under the Queen’s Umbrella" topped the ranking of dramas of the same time slot on all channels in both nationwide and Seoul metropolitan area categories.
Set in a fictional Joseon Dynasty, "Under the Queen’s Umbrella" depicts the struggles that the Queen faces when jumping into the fierce royal education war for the sake of her troublemaker princes.
The “Mul Gwi Won Ju” that appeared in this scene was written as “物归原主”, not “物歸原主”. This is a caption based on the Chinese notation of this phrase.
Since this episode, countless articles started appearing on online communities and others, pointing out this notation. As the controversy arose, the production team revised it, but disputes over history distortion are still underway.

In the scene where Queen Hwaryeong visits the king's chamber, a tablet with "Taehwajeon" written on it was captured.
Taehwajeon Hall is the name of the hall located in the Forbidden City in Beijing, China. It refers to the place where the emperor of the Qing Dynasty received bureaucrats.

Calling it a "delusion" historian Jeon Woo Yong cited that it "could not have happened in the Joseon royal family." The historian shared that the series is showing incidents that happened under the Qing Dynasty and not the Joseon Dynasty.

韩国忠南大学国文系教授尹锡镇（音）接受韩国《体育东亚》采访时表示，《王后伞下》只是借用“朝鲜王朝”这个时代背景而已，其余全部剧情都是虚构，如果拿“历史考证”的标准去衡量该剧，确实过分，这恐怕会造成“过分干涉创作自由”的不良后果。
