"We should focus on women's interests, helping them step out of their comfort zones. Only then can they realize what kind of life they want and how to live their lives," as a Chinese female billionaire has said.
In an exclusive interview with China Daily, Chen Lihua, founder and curator of the China Red Sandalwood Museum, shared her life story.
As a successful female entrepreneur, Chen believes that there is no such thing as a free lunch.
"For me, when I run into a problem, it’s nothing. I always feel like I should get over it and work harder. As long as you have faith, you should be able to get through any difficulties," she said.

When elected as the president of China Federation of Overseas Chinese Entrepreneurs(CFOCE), although Chen used to be extremely stressed, she mused, "Our families are and always will be Chinese. Chinese people go abroad for study, but ultimately, we need to come back and invest here. Our nation is capable, and we should conduct business at home."
For those women still trying to become successful, Chen encourages them to step out of their comfort zones and find out what kind of life they want.
Red sandalwood, known for its slow growth and rarity, is highly valued in China, and Chen has a passion for it.
Committed to preserving traditional Chinese Culture, in 1999, she established the China Red Sandalwood Museum. It is China's first and largest private museum specializing in the research and the collection of red sandalwood sculptures and classic furniture.

As an active advocate of Chinese culture, she employed craftsmen and women skilled at carving wood to re-create Beijing's glorious city walls and watchtowers, which have long disappeared.
"We didn't have blueprints back then, so we bought newspapers. We went abroad and bought newspapers, photos. I was kneeling down to trace the lines, replicating little by little," Chen recalled. In her eyes, "If you don't be tough on yourself, you cannot achieve anything."

Chen also feels that it is her responsibility to develop red sandalwood crafts and bring them to the world, to leave something for our descendants, to leave an inheritance for Chinese culture.
"It's the responsibility, it's everyone's responsibility. I love this and I'm going to do it right. It's my responsibility to accomplish this one thing in my life," Chen laughed.
