Chinese actor Wang Baoqiang has made history by becoming the first male lead actor born in the 1980s to surpass the 20 billion yuan box office milestone, according to the cinema ticket sales platform Maoyan.
Wang, born in 1984 in Xingtai city, Hebei province, has received numerous awards for his works. Some of his notable works include Soldiers Sortie, Lost in Thailand, and the Detective Chinatown franchise. Wang also stars in the Detective Chinatown 1900, which is currently screening during the Spring Festival.

China's box office revenue for 2025 had exceeded 6 billion yuan, including presales, by 1:15 pm on Friday, while the figure for the 2025 Spring Festival film season had reached 4 billion yuan by 11:55 am on the same day, according to Maoyan.
Leading the box office chart are Ne Zha 2, Detective Chinatown 1900, and Creation of the Gods II. Among them, Ne Zha 2 and Detective Chinatown 1900 hold the top two positions, grossing 1.42 billion yuan and 1.09 billion yuan, respectively.
